I just wanted to share my joy that somehow my rtc doesn't fit the norm... everyone says if it fits in the mouth it becomes the food. oddly enough i got a hybrid, knowing it could get eaten, put a tank divider in and kept my fish separate. was having water quality issues doing that so i took it out. My RTC did not eat the hybrid!!! and he could have done so easily! he still has not eaten him and now they act as if they have been best friends for ever!!!

Didn't have any questions or anything just wanted to share my joy!!!:woot: And for you skeptics out there, it is rare and few in-between, but it does happen!! I hope they all stay friendly tank-mates and good luck to everyone else with these monster cats!!!

I have a few pics on my profile page if interested.. they are bigger now but there are some pics..

i had an rtcxtsn in with a tsn of the SAME size from 1.5 inches and when they were at the 7 inch mark the hybrid decided it wanted to see how the tsn tasted......i found the tsn halfway down the hybrids throat and when i reached in he spit him out, the tsn floated to the bottom not breathing, i held him in front of the return line for a couple of minutes and was able to revive him....its not a matter of if he will eat him its when.

It's not a matter of if he will eat him its when.

Agree. My 26" TSN lived with my 10" oscar for a couple of years before trying to eat him the other day, killing the oscar in the process.

Ive had a 30" RTC and a 24" TSN with a 6" royal plec, 8" bichirs, 18" bichirs, the tsn grew up with tetras and a small dat.. go through some of my threads for proof.. unfortunately I got rid of my big tank and a friend picked up the TSN.. day 5 or something he ate his aligator gar.. haha, sometimes it works and others not.. :/

wow its amazing how fish behave sometimes. oh and the divider was in there for about 3 weeks and it has been removed for about 5 weeks now. My hybrid is now almost the same size as my smaller rtc so i am hoping no problems..

But its great hearing your guy's stories!!!!!!
