I took the advice of some fellow members and have been doing "massage therapy" on my RTC, Joker, who has gill curl. I have always noticed one side worse than the other since the day we got him, but this seems to have helped a little. One side has improved, while the other I think is just too far gone to help. I will keep on trying though.
Weekly while I drain the tank, I fill his bucket up about 1/2- 1/3 of the way full, with a few drops of stress coat. He's getting used to the routine, and the only entertaining part is catching him in the tank. After that its smooth sailing. Next, once he is in the bucket, I run my hands from head to fins, for about 15 minutes. There's always a little belly rub in there for him during the rest breaks. Once we are done with our session, I pour him back into his home.
I'm going to try to keep updates of his progress from here forward, in hopes to see more improvement. If not, then at least we gave it a shot, and as long as he's happy, healthy and smiling at me, then we are ok.
I can't post pics??
