I have 2 red tail catfish that haven’t eaten since I’ve put them into the tank. They have been in there for a week and I’ve been trying to feed them massivor sinking pellets but they don’t want them. I’m trying to not go with feeders but I might get some for them at this point what do u guys think I should do they are about 4-5 in

Check your water quality? How big of a tank? Maybe stressed from the move.

Tank size? Fish size? A confirmation that we are talking South American redtail and not asian. Just bought? Water parameters?

Most of this info separately could give different pictures but all together might give answers.

Sorry, just seen fish size!

Decor also?

The first thing to provide, among a dozen others, are water parameters and how they are measured.

Mine refuses to eat every time i move it... it readily ate at 6-7" when i aquired it tho. I started it off on tilapia stuffed with massivore on feeding tongs lights off. I used less and less tilapia until it was on massivore only and hand feeding.
Back to the hunger strikes... it went 30 odd days no food after a tank upgrade... 2nd tank upgrade it was over 40 days. both times it was in perfect condition, fat and acclimated to the new (pre established) tanks. After the 2nd move i found my ph was higher in the larger tanks due to my tap water being 8ph, autodrip systems and lack of any wood.. Lowest ph in house at 6.5-7 was actually the 1st tank i put it in...dumb luck... 2nd tank at 7... and 3rd tank 7.5ph.

They will take a while to adust to a new ph and i believe 7-7.5 may be the cutoff for their comfort. I actually cut my autodrip a bit to the tank lowering the ph to 7 and it began eating again/acting normal.

Check ur ph... 6.5-7 should be good. If its too high do not use chemical buffers as thats not a permenant fix. u can add drift wood to lower it naturally and kinda ease it into the change.

If ur ph is already 6.5-7 check the other "bases" to ensure no nitrate or ammonia are present. If those check off in the clear just be patient and continue to try and feed...then remove any uneaten food. i suggest lights off and cut tilapia on feeding tongs to get them started. Once they get used to you and your water they should come around.

I’ll test the water next time I’m their. I’m in college and they r at my moms house. I’ll be their at the latest by this weekend they r in a tank with other fish that eat just fine
