60 gal tank

tank consists of: 1 juvenile RTC (6 inches), 1 bichir, 1 medium (7 inch) p bass, 1 (7 inch) clown knife, 1 small texas, 1 small polleni, & 2 plecos (i big 1 small).

first off I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND that my tank is too small and overstocked. thats not my question. i am in the blueprint for building a 1000 gal. plywood monster tank. what i need to no is if my water chemistry is good for the stock i have. basically if my filtration is efficiant and if im getting enough turn over in my tank as of now.

i did around a 30% water change day b4 yesterday & took some water from it the next day and got it tested today. heres what it read:

pH: 7.6

Ammonia: 0

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 1.0

is that ok? what am i doin wrong, what can i do better (besides upgrade tank & filters because thats comming ASAP anywayz) thx for readin.

you know whats funny is people do all these nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, etc checks and I never do it and my tanks are always good.

Same thing when I was in saltwater reef tanks, I never bothered messing with my tank and things always were fine.

yea but i bet you dont have the stock that i do in such tight quarters!

typically when you have been keeping fish for awhile you get to know your water... I have not relyed on testing my water in years... I only check if I suspect that there is a problem as it's just a waste of tests otherwise... 99% of the time I can tell you what is off in my water before the tests have a chance to finish setting up.

your stock load isn't going to help you obviously you are aware of that... so make sure that your keeping on top of your water changes (with the current load I'd go no more than 3-4 days for water changes...

im thinkin of gettin rid of the little pleco, polleni, & tex cichlids, and adding a juvie TSN!! cuz i was just thinkin when they out grow my tank theres no reason i cant throw them in a wal mart plastic pool! that is until my build is done!
