I am thinking of building a 108" x 108" x 48", which I believe to be about 2,400 gallons. Will that be large enough for my one RTC?

Also, I have never gone about building a tank before. Are there any sites or links within this site I could go to and learn as much as I can.

Or will those who have done this show and tell me here in my own thread on how I would go about this. Like what lumber I would need, where to look here in Sioux Falls on what I need. I do not want to screw this up, or spend more than $500 on this. Which I may do anyways.

Thanks,
Lance

I'm betting you'll need more than 500 dollars. Also I'm sure more experienced users will be glad to help you.

That is what I am thinking unfortunately. Hopefully I can build it easily.

Any of the "pros" have any advice?

just type in the plywood tank in search section and you should get plenty of result. But for $500, your best bet is to buy a used tank. Material and glass cost more then $500 and you wouldn't want to build a 90G out of plywood either.

how do you want the tank to look? is it just a basement job or do you want it to look nice? and r u set on viewing glass or have u thought about a pond? i dont think you can do it for $500. but the glass would probly be cheaper if you had a 2 piece front instead of one big window. just get plenty of quotes bc ive found a lot of variance in prices. how bigs your rtc? i cant wait to get another one someday :)

I don't plan on it looking to fancy. Yes, set on viewing glass. My RTC is about 3 inches, it cost me $30 for it.

im modeling my build after this one with a few changes. ive got a few pics of mine on my profile but its still in progress and is only about 250gl so i dunno how well the design would apply to yours but maybe you could get a basic idea to the wall structure. mine will be fiberglassed bc im to worried the epoxy would puncture and the tank would be screwed. plus it adds strength but would be expensive for a tank your size. might be cheaper to go little shorter like 36" then the glass wouldnt need to be as thick. and if u went 96x96 bc 2 sheets of ply would be 96x96

if its not fancy youll save tons lol. i want mine to look really good so i can sell it when i move back to the states. and my rtc went from 3" to 2ft" in 12mo so its good yur getting ready now rather than later :)

Do you know of a site that can tell me how thick I should have the glass piece for how long the piece will be?

Thanks for the link... Looks like the route I was going to do. I drew up my plans... now to find the $$$$$ and get what I need.
