well here is my concern
i bought my rtc on sat.
this is my first ever rtc and was just wondering what should i expect
he seems to be doing fine and none of my other fish are picking on him but he just hides under a rock all day i never see him anywhere but under the rock.

i was just wondering if this was normal behavior or what are they like other cats and come out at night or what
i am just not sure because i never see him out even at night

any help would be awesome i love this fish

help please

he may just be settling in. Its normal for any small fish to hide. Give him time and feed him what your lfs was feeding (which was probably not good) and switch when he gets more active. I'm sure he'll come around.

yeah also cats..dont really like bright lights..so just give him time and try to start hand feeding himm..that should help

Hiding is normal for young cats. It's a self-preservation instinct that the RTC will outgrow quickly. What size tank do you have him in? This cat will grow a foot a year and requires pristine water which is hard to provide due to the amount of waste RTCs produce.

oddball he is in a 180 gal for now
with a 265gal planned for next spring
and then possibly a indoor pond on down the road

i really need to get a thermometer for this tank asap
i am thinking he maybe a little cold also
not sure how this happened but i am thinking it was my kids
