has any one had 2 4-5" rtc's in the same tank get along? it might just be the1 that i have, seems to be VERY territorial with the other rtc but not with the plecos. and if so do you have any ideas on how to get rid of the aggression towards the other rtc?

ive already tried to divide the tank for a week and then change the scaping in the tank so that it was like a new tank to both of them but the 1 is always chasing down the other one and biting its tail.

I got 2 RTC's lving together in a 1000L. pool
They do fine, and live i nharmony with 2 arapaima gigas.
What the size of your tank ??

and make some places for them to hide.

the tank size will probably have alot to do with it. or you just have one really pissy RTC.

yeh mine fought so much that i had to seperate them...they lose aggression when they grow larger though...dont ask me why...but overfeeding both might help.

mine pushes around the rest of my cats at feeding time and if he wants their hidding spot but other then that he just hangs out.

Young RTC's don't like to have to compete for food or space with eachother, It's better now that you have seen the agression come out in one that you seperate them in two seperate tanks or soon you will only have 1 RTC to worry about.

As TLkmDN mentioned the agression goes away once they get larger, the reason is that it's pointless to fight each other as they can't eat something that big and the chances of injury goes up which an injury in the wild is a death sentance for these guys. Just like in Human kids ... when young they think they are indestructable... different than humans... when older... they almost are! LOL

well right now they are only 4-5" so they are both in a 55. when i first put them in 1 beat the other pretty badly so i had to seperate and put malefix with salt in a tank and his tail and fin healed up real nice qwithin the week they were seperated... i put them both back in the same tank yesterday and it doesnt seem to be pecking order aggression cuz when i hand feed them they both just sit they and wait. its just whenever the 1 swims by the other one hell chase it down and bite its tail...

i hope it goes away soon for i have BIG plans for these guys. when they hit 9" or so they will go into a solitary 125 gal by themselves and then my 240 with some other fish and when they do grow out of that ive been researching the intex pools until i can get a house a build a nice 1000+ gal tank in either the garage or a pond in the back!

i do have 1 more question in the 120 and 240 what would be some good tankmates if i were to want some? you think pbass? im not a huge fan of arrowana. just want something that will continuously be moving at the top/mid while these guys stay in 1 place at the bottom :)

The only good tank mate for a RTC is one that doesn't fit in it's mouth... and grows fast than they do...So.... Not much LOL
