Just picked up my first baby RTC about 2 weeks ago. Ive always had them from about 8 inches and up but never raised one from a baby. He is displaying what i would call normal RTC behaviors like being calm and looking for caves and things to hide in during the day. HOWEVER, he isnt eating like im used to the larger ones eating. Should i be concerned at his lack of hunger? or is this normal for the small guys. Otherwise he is entirely normal and seems very healthy. And the PH is around 7, and there is no ammonia and everything else is nutral. let me know if im just worrying for nothing or if he should be eating everything in sight??

i just put in 2 tea spoons of blackworms and he just sat there for 20 minutes. then i turned the lights off and he started attacking them! i think hes fine just maybe not in the mood for guppies. thanks man ill start him on beef hearts and seafood fillets soon.

they are grown out now. i have 2 big boys and sadly i lost my hybrid about 3 months ago at about 13 inches. to replace him i though it would be more fun to grow out a baby in my 90 and then eventually move all 3 into a pond. still looking into filtration though.

I had the same issue with my little guy... I didnt feel like he was eating... Well I was doing frozen blood worm and krill cubes and I thought that the other fish were eating everything. So I went out and go some red worms and I dropped on in and he killed it... That was the first time i saw him eat in like 2 or 3 weeks... So now he is doing great and he devours giant nightcrawlers and minnows like its his job... well it is his job haha...We also just got a crab that we didnt think he would eat, well he is was in the tank less than 5 hours before we couldnt find him anymore and the redtail had a nice big big big stomach... So dont worry he will slowly come around to eating everything...
