Hey everyone, I got my new baby rtc from aquascape about 5 days ago. He looked awesome and seems to be in perfect shape, I know he's eating because I see bulges in his stomach the next morning after I dump guppies into the tank.

My only worry so far is that he isn't out and active, he only likes to hide in the same spot all day long.

Is that normal for a baby 2" rtc?

Hey Neighbor! Yep, quite normal - mine 2"-3"-ers were all hiders. They will embolden as they grow. Also, he is in new water and new tank, so he is still adjusting. But he will hide anyway. So, it's normal. Get a peek at night if he is out. He should be out and about looking for food. If he is not mighty hungry, he won't come out for unfamiliar food in the day light. His instinct tells him to hide as much as possible, eat as much as possible, and grow as fast as possible to outgrow being predated on.

Thanks! Like I said I know he's not sick or anything cause his belly is always huge ( I constantly have a supply of ghost shrimp in his tank incase he gets hungry). I'll get some pictures up of him if I can catch him out.

They will hide until much larger, good thing they are some of the quickest growing on the planet. get him onto prepared foods and massivore and he will grow infront of your eyes
