i just wanted to share some real world experience about my rtc and my rtc x tsn with people that dont have any experience only what they have read. my personal experience i started my rtc off in my 20 gal high 5-6 months ago @ 2 inches, in one month he was 4" and got moved to my 55. 2 months later he was 8" and moved to my 90. now today 2-3 months later he was just over 12" long and a little over 3" wide actual body not counting his pectoral fins, and i had to move him into my 1200 gallon pond. i got my rtc x tsn 2 months ago @ 2 inches. same thing with the 20 gal. one month and it was 4 inches. only spent 1 month in the 55 as it is outgrowing my tsn by a long shot and moved to the 90 today between 5 and 6 inches long. if you think for any reason that you can house one of these fish in a 4' tank for any longer than 5-6 months comfortably you are out of your mind. please leave these fish to people that have 1k plus gallon tanks and ponds. any other personal experience posts would be greatly appreciated.

My rtc is almost 2 years old. I got him at 1" and now he's nearly 30". I got my big boy rtc x tsn at 18" 3 years ago, and how he's 38"+. He has eaten 3 full grown oscars that were supposed to be rescues, but I guess they lived a better life than when they were in 30 gals, and 55 gals at 12"+ inches. There is still 3 left with him that are 14"+. The RTC has eaten a 14" bullhead, a 10" oscar, and a 9" Jack Dempsey. Between the two of them I estimate they eat around 5-8 lbs of food per week. Mostly shrimp and fish, and ocassionally some cichlid pellets. Like I said rtc 1" to 30" in just two years.

are you able to keep the rtc with big boy now? or does he still try to eat him?

I dont think people realize just how fast some of these fish grow, great thread!
