hey so, i dont know if ive seen one of these about the rtc but. i figure ill do a week by week growth rate with photos. they are strickly fed raw market shrimp as much as they can eat every night.

we have 2. i only ave 1 picture from the first week. this was the bigger of the two measuring at about 3.5 inches in length

these 4 pictures were taken today. roughly about 12 days after we bought the fish. they eat very well and havent had any problems with them so far. they are in a growout 55 by themselves until they hit about 8-9 inches then they will be in a 125 for a while

the first 2 are the smaller 3 incher 12 days after we bought them

the last 2 are of the one with the picture in the first post. he was about 3.5 inches roughly 12 days ago

hope you all enjoy. feel free to jump in with questions or anything advice!!!

beautiful little guy, very good thread! However, if I can offer advice, don't remove him from the tank to measure him. It stresses him very much. Much healthier if you wait for him to lay by the glass and then measure him :)

ok thanks! ill seeif that works.. they dont usually hang by the glass tho

One thing I do for easy measurement is I will take a marker and mark measurements down one side of my aquarium. When the fish swim by and decide to stop I can see how long they are and how much they have grown. I do it just above the gravel line in black and just mark by quarter inches making quarter inch marks the smallest, half inch longer, and every inch mark is the longest. Hope this helps. You could number them even though I don't.

that is a good idea. now i just have to get them to hang around the glass... they are pretty lazy. only come out to eat then just go back and hide

my fish never stay still long enough.I have laid a measuring tape across the tank and left it there, with a video cam pointed at the tank. I did all this and can only guess at the size.

oh and if you have something in there they like to hide behind put the spot they like to hide in towards the marked glass. That will make it super easy to see daily growth in the RTC.
