The last 3 times I fed my rtc when he moved around a lot, a thin clear film came off of him. Is it slime or is he sick? Also I put a large mouth bass in the tank that was the same size as the rtc and that was the first time I saw the "slime floating around the tank. He ate the bass the first night.

Have you checked your water as they usualy create more mucus when the water quality is not to good or if you have a parasite problem

They do tend to slough off their natural slime when water params are off or when they are under stress. With RTC no matter your filtration I always suggest a daily 10% water change. With my last RTC I was doing this along with daily feedings and he was healthy as could be and grew quite rapidly even for RTC standards. Also look at the size of the tank you have him in. As they grow and their tanks get smaller for them they begin to stress more rapidly.

They do this!! more with stress and bad water parameters, but they do it with good water some times too. I wouldnt worry unless it does it allot, I've grown three to over 24" and they all did it occasionally.

Same here, mine did it a few times, even with good water params. Just always err to caution and keep an eye out, always expect the unexpected lol
