Hi

i would love to get a rtc but can't due to a number of reasons: my tank is not big enough (125G), i am not going to buy one with the premise of get a larger tank at a later date, and the thought of eating it when it get too big doesn't appeal ;)
i would love to get the closest lookalike that would fit in my tank. Do you have any ideas what fish this would be?

a big bumble bee cat would be good.

I don't think bumble bees are a good choice. They are not much like RTC really. I would go with a pim oranatus (sp?) or maybe a large pictus. That is probably the closest thing you will get. Looks wise your not gunna find anything close....

as far as body shape BB cats are really close. and rhapps sells the
"jumbo" bb cats that are like 6in. pictus dint look a bit like rtc imo

I was thinking more personality...there isn't really much you can have that is even near a RTC in looks. I think BB are just too boring. Not very RTC in personality.

Try a Marmorata or Peruno cat. Only get about 24"-30" and Rapps usually has one or the other. Got one of each at work about 20" and they are very laid back.

Leiarius marmoratus, or Perrunichthys perruno:)
'Course they still get too big for a 125 gallon.

eclipse cat, lol, doesn't look too much like it, but does have a striking orange tail coloration, and should do ok in that tank.
