Just picked up an 17" RTC from another member on the site, he was transported in 25 gallons of his native water, when i arrived home, i started a slow drip for acclimation, after a couple hours of that, when it had reached about 50 gallons i removed 10 gallons slowly, and started the drip again, once it was up to 50 gallons, and temperatures and every were even i carefully introduced him into his new home. since he's entered he immediately swam to the bottom and laid there, and has been breathing what seems heavily ever since. and hasn't moved, i understand the 2 moves he experienced today were stressful, but this seems like odd behavior compared to any other fish I've ever acclimated.

can anyone help or atleast put my nerves to rest?

thanks in advance

My rtc will qiite often lie and breathe heavily for no reason. So long as you have sufficient airation and filtration sounds like everything was done fine. Just let the little guy settle. My rtc ate almost straight out the box and he had a long and hot four hour journey home......they are super tough little buggers

Ok I'm just a bit over protective this time around, i just lost a 24" Ripsaw cat fish after too long a journey, and not prepared to loose another life, or investment.
