rtc tail stand

my rtc sits on his tail sometimes pointing straight up for hours at a time he is in a fairly large tank 8ft/3ft/3ft all water params are good and he eats well anyone have a rtc that does the same?

mine did it too, stand for couple of minutes (last year, while thay are jst 4-5 inches), jst a few times i saw.

exactly right. My ARTC used to do the same thing. I think they feel less vulnerable that way. As soon as I gave him some places to hide he would just chill there. If I take out his decorations to clean the tank, he'll get all irritated and do the tail stand thing again.

yeah, I had one that did that too. Stupid thing broke his heater and ate all the glass though. That sucked having to kill him, he was a cool red tail. Was almost 22 inches at the time of his untimely death. R.I.P. Lucious

I've seen larger ones do that at the public aquarium here... they would go face up into the output of the filtration system and just sit there for hours... these are all over 3 1/2' though so it's prob for a different reason LOL
