Just put my new RTC in the tank last nite and right away my TSN swam over and started shoaling with the RTC.They are both around 4 inches.Could they ever mate??Any advice is really appreciated.:naughty: :naughty:

thats good to hear

but i doubt that they will mate unless you have a pretty big tank

necrocanis has or had some RTC x TSN hybrids. So apparently it's possible. Handsome animals too..

They most likely will never mate... I too have a rtc x tsn and I friggin' love em'. But they are man produced my milking the male that they induce with hormones, then they cut the eggs out of the female and mix them together manually. Only a fraction of the eggs actually take to the sperm. And in order to have either one of those fish spawn you'd need thousands of gallons.

Well that aint happen here,i love em too.To me they are both real majestic looking cats, even at smaller sizes. So put em both together and you got 1 hell of a Monster!!:WHOA: :WHOA:

get a 18' dia pool and put some hellacious filtration on it, and try to be the first to breed just pure rtc. Someone already did tsn, now we need to conquer the redtail hehe.

your rtc and tsn will be fine together!! if i aint mistaken tsn get slightly longer than rtc. get ya pics out!! lol

tsn usually get to the same length, but in the end the rtc is a much larger fish. Probably 30-50% larger than tsn at the same length. You would be hard pressed to find a catfish that with adequate food supply will try to eat a fish the same length as it is. Make sure their growth rates are comparable and you'll never have a problem except with maybe aggression if the tank size is too small. RTC get really territorial when larger.
