hey guys. Finaly got my indoor pond all done. And im lookin for a few nice cats to put in it. At my LFS right now there is a 15" TSN and a 2" RTC. So im wondering if thats a big enough head start for the TSN. Ill be growing out the RTC in a 55 till hes about 6". Im def gonna get the RTC but I really like TSNs so if you think thatll be a big enough head start ill prob get him. oh only other tank mates are a 15" pleco and a 27" channel.

A 2 inch RTC wouldnt even be a snack for a 15'' TSN. Just another piece of massivore...

they wont be living in the same pond until the rtc is about 6-8"

In that case the RTC should grow to size of the TSN in like, oh maybe 3 weeks and will end up eating the TSN.... Just my opinion. Never trust a catfish. Especially a Red Tail Catfish....

i think you'll be fine. just keep them both fed. try and powerfeed the TSN in the pond. move the redtail at 7" or so.

I think you have a few months till the RTC is the same size but i cant see him eating a Cat that large till hes quite a bit bigger, although my 22" ate my 16.5" Frontosa 2 days before i was going to move him lol just expect to sometimes find that your red tail has played a dissapearing act with his tankmates, Fish deserves respect.

I absolutely love this quote, I am adding it to my signature!

OP - A 16" TSN might try and eat a 6" RTC, I'd wait till he is about 8" which might take an extra 2 weeks... LOL
