I bought an rtc with gill curl a while back and didn't really notice until recently. Does it affect the fish's health. It seems like it doesn't but i dont know for sure. It doesn't seem to because the fish eats like a pig and actually goes after the large goldfish feeders instead of just waiting for the fish to pass by like the tiger shovelnose. Anyways i wanted to know if it is a sign that the fish is about to die or what but i had it for a while and it seems ok. when i got it, it had gill curl but at the time i didnt really know what that was so can anyone help?

The fish I have seen with the “gill curl” the curling is actually on the operculum. It seems to start from poor diet and poor water quality. The fish do fine once they are moved to better conditions. That curling never goes away though. And both of the fish I have taken care of eat like pigs too! Hope this helps.
