:cry:Poor guy... no matter what I've done, he just simply will not eat. He's eaten about 3 goldfish since i've had him, and mind you, i've had him for about 2 and a half weeks. Since then, wont eat any gold fish, shrimp etc. etc. NOTHING. As i write this, the poor thing is swimming in a really weird way and just looks bad. My water is perfect, water temp is where it needs to be, he doesn't fight with my channels, I really am stumped. Although, since day one, poor guy was in badddddd shape. Fin rot, wellllll underfed, and was very unhappy with his MUCH larger tank mates whom bullied him at the LFS i picked him up at. He was doing great for the first few days, his color got much better, his fins began to heal considerably. He didn't eat much as I said but I thought he was simply still getting used to the tank. What do you guys think I should do? I feel as if he's doomed. The way he's swimming it seems as if he has but only a few hours left. I sure hope not.:(

have you been treating him? Feeder fish could only make it worse as they harbor many parasites, and deseases! Good luck. Try bloodworms in an eye dropper and squezz it right in front of him.

he could still be stressed from all he has been through if he's not sick. I moved my wallago attu's tank from my garage to a room in the downstairs of my house and he wouldn't eat for 3 weeks started looking thin and eventually he began eating on his own. Try feeding him krill or shrimp. Like necro said keep him off live feeders especially goldfish. also how big is he?

NOT what you want to hear but............... I believe most of the hybrids brought in, especially those from Malaysia have about a 25% success rate when that small. A good friend just brought in a few different types all very small, and 15 out of 18 fish didnt live 2 weeks. Most wouldnt eat and simply starved. I think Necros trick of Melafix is about as good a chance of any that you can give them. Unfortunately it just seems to be the nature of these juvi hybrid's. If you can grow them out to about 5-6" they seem to be very hardy. I am currently keeping a tsn x niger and although he is doing very well, I cringe every time I look in the tank.

JMO.....of course.

oh shhit...... sorry bro....

Thanks man. I loved that little f%@#er, and my other cats sure did too. It almost looks like they are mourning in a sense. They keep looking at his favorite spot, then me, and basically are just swimming ultra slow. Usually they're all over.. Poor things.

Sorry to hear of your loss. To date i've never had a hybrid catfish die outright when small. It always worries me about my hybrids when I hear of the high mortality that others have been having. Some hybrids may have weak immune systems while others may have super efficient immune systems.
