Im not sure why but after the first time ever feeding him Tilapia stuffed with Massivore pellets hes been hiding. Hes usually going crazy swimming every where pissing off my Pbass. Hes been still eating ALOT but just shoots out of his hiding spot grabs another piece and shoots back in. The water tested out great so I dont understand why hes being like this.

Anyone have any ideas what his issue is? Thanks guys.

I know that redtail shovelnose catfish hybrids are not that aggressive usually. They just like to eat tankmates that they can swallow, not so much nip at other fish, which means that they are not normally an aggressive fish. You said above he pisses of your Pbass usually. Maybe when he was eating feeders because he had to hunt the feeders down to catch them and eat them it made him more aggressive. Once you started feeding prepared food, that aggression probably subsided and maybe that's why he just hangs out now and doesn't bother anyone. Just my idea. Or maybe he may just be fuller. I noticed mine is a lot less active when he's full.

Oh ya hes full, Im trying to get the bass on the tilapia also so he gets thier scraps. What I ment by pissing off my Pbass is that he would swim everywhere and always would bump into them or get in their spot. Not aggresive just freely swimming the tank. I had a feeling it was just because hes been getting these big meals, but I got a little worried something might be up because I heard they are pretty active and swim around the tank alot.

Its only been 3 or 4 days now since I started the tilapia and the lazyness started litterally after the first meal. Also he was never skittish, I see him out and swimming when I creep into the room, but if he sees me he shoots back in his den.

This guy was eating out of my hand every meal before I started tilapia. It shouldnt be bad for him, especially since Im putting Massivore pellets in there.

My RTC x TSN hybrid is very aggressive towards my TSN witch is larger than my hybrid, also he does not bother any of my other fish witch include a Gar, a Arowana, a Tire Track Eel, a Clown Knife, a Zungaro, and a Pleco. My Arowana is very aggressive towards my Gar why and help would be great

If you can't think of any other change that occurred except for the diet, then likely that's the explanation. As Archer said, full/overfull = lazy (but should not be skittish). Hungry = very active.

Things may also change with age and size, for sure, either inside the fish's nature, or how it relates to the tank size, or in the relationship with the tank mates. It's a complex situation in any tank with many fish. As fish grow in size in their tank, so does food consumption and waste, which changes water chemistry, etc. They need more bio-filtering, more WCs, more oxygenation... It's a lot of variables.

Temp changes, seasonal changes, lighting changes, people behaving around the tank (especially in your absence)... You know. Lots to think about.

How big is your hybrid now? i've noticed durign thier growth cycle they stop being as active, putting more calories into growth than swimming. it very well could be diet as others have suggested. Also are you pbass equally sized to your hybrid? Mine stayed very shy, even up to 12" but i just gave them a "big brother" 20" tiger to hang out with and havent been hiding since. so it could also be if your pbass are similar in size or larger they are "afraid". hybrids, while they have a voracious appietite are kind of push overs.
