ok recently i moved my hybrid and its mates (2TSNs and ARTC)the SA cats are all 5"+ and the other one is 3"ish
all of them are in a 180g tub
from past three days i haven't seen the hybrid eat and now has a sunken belly and keeps swimming near the surface and doesn't bother with food
and i think he has acute Fin rot too which i noticed today morning
did a water change added some salt (1Tbs/10g) and have increased the temp to 29C
anything else i should do
do you think i should add tetracyclin
you see i am a bit flustered and my head ain't working right just a few days ago i lost my E cat(RIP sparky)
and now this is happening,
i would be real thankful if you all could help me with this

the tub doesn't have a cover as it is three foot tall and only two foot is filled with water and after the move they got too skittish every time some one walked closer to the tub they would go all zooming everywhere around the tub, i think they are getting too stressed and thus this is happening

Sorry to hear about Sparky. I would suggest that if you do have to treat with meds, isolate the hybrid in a hospital tank if you have one so you dont have to treat all of the cats unless they are showing signs of fin rot. See how the salt works out and I hope it does so you dont have to medicate your cats. Good luck.

Stress is always a concern with Cats when it comes to their eating habits, one of the things I always do before moving my cats is to make sure that I feed them... WELL because they WILL stress during a tank change which will ofcourse casue the hunger strike. If you have a fit rot probem on top of this then it just adds huge amounts more of stress to the fish and it in turn will refuse to eat even more. I nursed a TSN back from sunken belly by "force" feeding with a dropper directly in it's mouth and Tubefex worms... it was messy and took a long time to do but after a few feedings the tummy was back to normal looking which allowed the TSN the time it needed to de-stress and eat on it's own.

Just allow it the chance to eat on it's own first, Throw up a pic and I'm sure it'll give us a better idea of if you can wait it out a few days
he acually did eat after the move but then he stopped eating all together and now has a sunken belly and all
shall try beef heart today and see if he eats
have been trying to feed them earthworms as we don't get blood worms(live ones) here
will try to get the pic by evening till then will be in college

hey basslover34
a little more details about force feeding pls

the RTCxTSN is dead
and so is one of the smaller TSNs of mine

Dude I'm sorry for your loss, I'm going through similar events with mine and my TSN they hardly eat. Today I bought nightcrawlers and they seemed to eat those ok. But they're not stuffing themselves like they did before.

Check your params... sometimes a Nitrite buildup will cause them to lose their appitites... (speaking from personal experience ;) )

Sorry about your loss HB... I didn't see your post till just a few mins ago about needing more info, basically I use a bulbend (like a mini turkey baster) load it up with some tubefix worms and stick it in their mouths and squeeze ... simple process... unfortunatly they will let ALOT go out their gills and or spit most of it out once you get the tip out of their mouth... but some stays in and goes down.. so I'll keep doing it till I feel they have had enough till the next meal and will start the process over again.
