ok just a quick question, i have a hybrid i bought around xmas and he was less than 2 inches long. now he is over a foot and eats everything from pellets to feeders to frozen and has developed a taste for p.bass (4 of them) which are tough since they will not grow as fast as he does. is there really anything that can be kept with these guys? he is in a 40b for the moment and im picking up his new home thursday (500g). my question is what can survive with them and what size will i need? i can get 12" p.bass now, but i fear he will eat them also. i want a gar, but they are slender and he will prob suck them down. i want rays, but they are too small. is this going to be the only thing in a 500g tank?

on the plus side you can rock all the large cats you want and most of them are fairly easy to come by on craigs list. I had a 16" rtc and a 20" tsn in a 360 with a 13" flowerhorn. The flower horn was big and mean enough that neither cat could get him. hope this helps. Also walmart sells a 5lbs box of with fish for $12 that should help keep your cat happy for a while will still have to add other things to keep him healthy but it will keep him fat for not a whole lot.

pacu and other large cats

on a side note, none of the above, including your rtcxtsn will be able to live in a 500 for life :(

How do you know? It depends on dimensions, not gallonage, and he didn't give dimensions. It might be 3ft wide, which would be good for almost all of those fish for life, except the hybrid.

And I really dont understand why people like pacu in display tanks. They are the ugliest fish I think I have ever seen. They are just giant swimming garbage can lids.

If you can't tell, I hate pacu.

footprint is 96x48 should be good for a long time, dont see many over 40 inches long. i was thinking of some big (3lbs+) largemouth bass might work
