Very much south..
In the last couple of days I have been hearing purring noises, strong noises out of the tank.

Even thought it could be one of those puring catfish ( like Raphael's ) that I might have forgotten.

Today I caught my RTG ( which now I know is a male ) swimming in synch with a silver ( which I now think of as a female ) and the purring is being made by the RTG.

And they keep swimming in synch, and the silver chases the other silver away ( which has never happened in more than 5 years ) and the RTG keeps purring away.

Between an Asian and a Silver I had never heard of it.

( I hope, it being the case, she lays eggs quickly, to be eaten immediately by the pacmans I guess, so that peace and tranquility return to the tank )

maybe take the pacmans out and we will have our first asian and silver hybrid.

No. I think that at the most the silver will lay some eggs ( at the most, I repeat ) and that is it.

the only way to be sure 100% is to try it.

I know it.

The thing is that I have no spare location to move this tanks inhabitants without causing major damage in other systems.

I know I should try it, but there is no way around it, at the moment.

that sux.. it would be great to see some information on the progree between an RTG & SILVER.

maybe buy a pond bin for your other inhabitants or the aro's?:naughty:

in case mating/breeding will take place between them.
i think i've seen a spawning video of asian arowana some where. right after the eggs are laid, the male would fertilize them and scoop them up right away . Hopefully that will keep the eggs safe from the other tank inhabitants.
