Hi guys I resently brought a rtg12-14 inch long. Was told it can live with other large fish but when I tried it beat everything up. So I moved him to a tank of his own . I have tried to put other fish with him but he beats them upto, he is nearly as bad as a jardini I used to have. He is highly aggressive even to the dovii that lives in the next tank.

So any ideas on how I can make him more fish friendly.

had to feed him mealworms since the weekend because he wasn't accepting anything but his agression started assoon as I got him 4-5weeks ago.

Divide the tank first with a clear piece of acrylic or glass. Put the tankmates on the other side and let the arowana try and get to it through the divider. After about a week or two it will start to get bored and you can try and take out the divider. If it doesnt work, repeat the process.

train it to eat dried frozen krill or pellets

Hmmm his fish is quite big already - it might just get through the divider. I had a gar going through a divider to kill a silver aro in the next compartment...

Even if (big IF!) you can train him on pellets or krill, it won't help out with his aggression. People don't realize it's the tankmate that provoke the agression in arowana. Perhaps, changing the tank mate to mellow fish, like silver dollars, fei feng, severum, will help the arowana to get used to living in a community tank. If you keep the arowana with big aggressive fish like cichlid, p-bass, datnoid, the arowana has to defend himself against any of them that bullying him, and he only stops beating when the other fish realizes who's the boss. Sometimes, the other fish is killed before he realizes who's the boss. BTW, if you don't want to feed your arowana meal worms, it's better to train him on eating market shrimp or beef heart. Krill and pellet (dry food) tend to cause constipation, which could lead to hernia.

This method won't work most of the time with arowana :grinno: It could stress the arowana out, due to decrease in tank space, yet, the present of threat from tankmate is still there!

yeah i agree with everyone that say stop the live food.
and feed pellets. first he may not accept them but once he starts to get really hungry and realizes that pellets is the only food hes getting, thats when he'll start to accept it.
