So I have been looking for a black aro for awhile now, but have just been approached by someone wanting to sale me an RTG. I have done a great deal of research on Black and Silver Aros but not any on the RTG.

Can you give me some info on them. Aggression, what I should expect to pay, ect. I will be keeping it with a few SA cichlids (Manguense, Festae). Would this be compatible? What type of fish would you recommend keeping with an RTG?

Thanks for all the help!

not sure what they are going to go for in TX, but I have seen some range from $1800+. not to say that is the current going rate, but being that they are not legal, the price is what ever the seller wants it to be and what the buyer is willing to pay for it.

as for as tank mates, being how $$$ they can be, I wouldn't put them in with anything else. Just to be 110% safe.

best of luck.

Asian Arowana are illegal to own in the US. I would advise against buying it, because it may be a sting operation.

They are nice fish, I have a 2ft RTG it is a very peaceful fish, he won't touch my stingrays but he would bully & attack or eat any smaller fish.
If you can buy one I would highly recommend it but you will need a tank wider than 2ft & 8ft in length. For Asain Arowana it is the best value. They have plenty of colour & character. Mine makes a loud humming vibrating noise when I go near the tank. It might not get long with your cichlids but I have seen plenty tanks on you tube with cichlids & arowana -
