Hi all
im getting an RTG

wiht my red i have aqua glow, it tends to enhance reds and purples and things - it was also suggested for tanning. it seems to be working.

but, for the RTG, should i use a brighter WHITER light?

I've been toyin around with lighting options with my aro. Its not an asain but it still shines nice under different lights. I like the aquaglow the best so far. I have also tried plant glo, and random 10,000 K bulbs.

black background is used for red arowana. for your rtg use blue background. Good luck with your aro!:)

Does the background really make a difference? Is this a fact? Proof?

Any comparisons? I would think its all in the genes..

I'm interested :screwy:

yes it is all genes
but colour of background just makes it more standout
more if an illusion to the eye
example

my red aro 1.5 looks redder when i put dark gravel...and turn on only one red enhancing light instread of two..you would think two
but no, the body can only absorb and reflect a certain amount of light....so by only putting one, it makes it 'glow' as opposed to just seeing it just swim around in a bright environment.

but the background is currently blue
im putting black, this will make it glow even more, as if its in a dark hole and its glowing.

same with this.
all fancy pics of arowana are always in plain background, either blue or black

its an illusion, doesnt change their colour, it just makes it appear better......

best example....road signs are bright yellow with black writing.

some people say that the arowana is somewhat like a chameleon and can change its color intensity depending on its surroundings. a dark background supposedly will make a red aro darken its red color and a lighter background will make a gold color aro turn a lighter and brighter color. not sure if it works either but I do have a black background for my super-red asian aro in case it will help.

Certainly makes the contrast of colors more intense.
