RTGG Tank Size - 7x3x2.5 or 8x2.5x2.5

Hi - i have 2 small red tail giant gourami and am in the process of getting them a big tank , i have narrowed it down to either a wider or longer tank and not sure what would suit them best

1st choice 7ft long 3ft wide 2.5 ft high
2nd choice 8ft long 2.5 wide and 2.5ft high


the extra width puts the cost up to slightly more than the 8ft tank , so my question is whether a long or wider tank is more beneficial for the RTGG - they will be on thier own

I would go the 3 foot wide , I have a gold GG in a 6lx2hx3w and its not big enough for him... you might want a bigger tank again if you can find one at a good price

Id go for option2 i have 2 RTGG at 16-18" they are big but i dont think that an RTGG in the home aquaria will get much bigger than 20", the 8' length and added depth make the 2nd option the best!
