will red tiger motaguense eat little crayfish or crabs once they're big enough? will they eat basically anything that they can fit into their mouths?

Why not start out with pellets? NLS, Hikari, Omega one are all going to be better choices than anything that'll fit in its mouth.

well of course i'll have pellet as it's staple but it's always fun to watch your fish eat live i'm talking every once in awhile

If you want to feed live food as a treat I suggest you grow your own. Start a tank of Mollies they make great feeders. My Motas loved frozen Krill too.

+1 but insted of mollies i would breed convicts.... they breed fast and theyre awesome

Agree with convicts. A couple of 20l and you have fish treats forever. Although its hard to beat crayfish as far as nutrition goes. The shells contain all kinds of vitamin goodness with very little fat.
