So i went to feed the fish in my gowout 125 a few days ago and noticed that 2 of my RTM were acting real weird beating up everyone in sight of a certain rock. To my shock there was atleast a couple hundred eggs on that rock. They are only about 4 inches long i thought i would have some more time then this. I guess thinking back the two seemed pretty friendly to each other for the past 2 weeks and they colored up amazingly.

Just some crazy observations i've had. The two of them have fended off a 14 inch pleco for atleast 3 days. They would jointly charge him grab his face and move him. Also the female seems to be extremely intelligent. I watched her circle around the eggs and look for un fertilized eggs and when she spots one that she suspects she goes vertical looking straight down at the egg eyes focused and spins around till she is positive its not fertilized then picks it up out of the clutch gently and gets rid of it. There have only been 8 unfertilized eggs in total. For a first time breeding at that size im shocked.

Now to the questions part. What can i buy frozen wise to feed these guys when they hatch. Second question will this be a problem for the female. As in will she be horrible stunted. Up till today i could spot feed her but today she just takes the food and moves it away from the rock and spits it out. Last question is should i let them stay alone in the 125 and raise them for a while or try and move the fry out. I have a 180 that i am getting up and running tomorrow to move the other grow outs so i could keep them in the 125 for this spawn atleast then move them.

I will keep you guys updated on how it turns out. I can't get any good pictures yet because the eggs are the same color as the rock. But i will try asap to get some pictures. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

MAN THEY ARE GREAT PARENTS! SHE WILL EAT SPARINGLY SPITTING MOST FOOD AWAY FROM THE EGGS/ FRY TO KEEP OTHERS AWAY FROM THEM. FOR THE 1ST WEEK THEY WONT NEED FOOD TILL THE EGG SACK IS GONE. AFTER THAT TRY BRINE SHRIMP AND CRUSHED FLAKE OR PELLETS THAT WOULD BE FINE. AS THEY GET BIGGER BRINE SHRIMP, DAPHNIA, AND BLOOD WORMS. YA FEMALE WONT BE STUNTED IN A 125 EITHER. MINE BRED @ 4" FOR THE 1ST TIME AND THEY WERE IN A 120 COMMUNITY. GOOD LUCK AND POST SOME PICS ID LOVE TO SEE THE COLORS.

Well 2 days after i posted this they just ate the eggs. I understand it happens so im not discouraged, Anyways here are some pics of the parents before they ate their eggs.
