would a crayfish still be able to live a healthy life if i put rubber bands around his claws? i'd love to get a p. clarkii but don't have a tank availble that i can dedicate to one and i like my danios too much but i just can't help thinking of how kick ass my 29g would look w/ a small cray in it.

ok, i guess i'll just wait. i was wondering because i used to have a cray that lost both her arms and she lived for almost a year before she outgrew my tank and i let her go.

...

Why? You broke one of the fishkeeping ethnics. Even native creatures can catch foreign diseases from your tank.

<as in dumped her into the nearest creek?>
pretty much

in a way i guess i did but i seriously doubt she caught anything thing from my tank. i caught her when she was about 1" long and her arms where busted by another cray in the bucket, so i took her home and put her in my native tank. it was a 10g with some minnows i pulled out of the same creek(the creek was <100yds from my house) and the tank had been sitting dry for over a year when i had gotten it. when i let her go she was about 4" long. i put her back into the same creek i got her from, at the time i was only about 10 and had no idea about the possible impacts i could have on the creek.

yea a couple dwarf crays wouldn't look half bad, but i'd rather get a p. clarkii, they're just way too freakin cool. maybe i'll just have to settle for a flower shrimp enstead or i could hold off on my plans for a nano reef and fixing up my 180g and setup a 20g & 15g on a double stand next to my 29g.

Yea definatley don't put rubber bands on a crayfish's claws. I did that one time just as a temperary thing. After two days my crayfish molted with the rubber bands still on and he lost both his arms. He was still able to feed and the arms grew back after a couple of weeks but he just looked very goofy without his arms.
