I have a 55gal with a 5 inch red tiger oscar and a 7 inch ornate bichir and a 3 inch bristle nose pleco oh and a 1 inch vicious clam, would adding a rubber eel be too much bio load and do you think i will have to upgrade my tank or should it be fine also feeding would be hard cus for the bichir he eats sinking shrimp pelets so oscar wont mess with them so what should i feed it?

ill get pics up soon

oh and im new to mfk, alllo!

Right now you aren't overstocked, but given a few months, you will be. I would avoid the Typhlonectes.

its the clam isnt it..... if i upgrade to a 85 or added a new filter would i be ok?

You should upgrade to 100gals or more.

yeah, 300gals would be good and use the 55 as a QT tank.
for your 55, i would get a bigger filter and the add the eel.

Typhlonectes natans is not going to mix well with the fish you have. Oscars, when large, are not going to leave a Typhlonectes alone.

hmm i think ill add another filter and upgrade to an 85 later, but yeah that was my main concern, the compatibility. Because if im going to add anything id rather do it now when the oscars young, ive herd if they grow up together they are more compatible.

I have some rubber eels and they're reasonably hardy but also slow and doddering and if something is going to beat the stuffing out of them all the time they won't last long
