i just purchased a ruby red female from a local breeder
and wen i got home i could see she was a bit weird looking and skinny as if she hasnt eaten in a while
after getting her into a qt and some further inspection it looks as if shes holding
i was wondering if there were any way i can tell how long shes been holding
i dont want to place her into my main tank until she spits them out and if itll take a while i want to have her in a temp 20 gallon instead if not ill just keep her in the qt which is 10 gallons

im deciding to keep them because the male that was in the tank with them looked kool and his red was even deeper than the male that i have

Why not strip her and tumble the eggs. Beef her up and put her in with your male.
I actually don't have a male yet I'm expecting to get him on friday and as for tumbling the eggs I'm still new to this breeding stuff and don't know wat to do and how to do it plus I don't even know if they're eggs or if they hatched already that's y I want to know if there's any way to tell how long she's been holding

If you don't know what the species of peacock the male of the father is please cull the fry. This will reduce the amount of hybridisation and therefore keeps the blood lines in the fish good.
the female was in a breeding tank so I know what the male is that's y I'm keeping them so no worries bout getting hybrid peacocks...don't want any of that

Easy solution... You can try to strip her, then if they are still eggs dont continue and wait another week or so... we have had to do that a couple times and all turned out fine... even the ones that were eggs actually hatched but they already had some fins ;) also you can usually tell by looking in the mouth if you can get a good look also when the female is ready her mouth looks more full and you can see a dark color under her mouth/chin...

i just received the male so i moved the female to my 15g angelfish growout tank
heres a picture of the female in question (sorry pic is blurry only have camera fone atm)
