Ok, so I was wrong.. The above female isn't the first spawn I've had.. Noticed last night another female was holding, and the fry already were showing distinct eyes inside her mouth. I stripped her, but was maybe too soon. All of the fry still have yolk bellies. Of the 10 spit, 1 was already dead and 1 was an unfertilized egg. As of this morning, 2 more have died. The female on this one I don't think is a ruby red, but rather a Rubescene Clown (Red on White for the males), who bred with a Ruby Red male. Not too concerned if these fry survive because of that, but at least I know the exact date and time of the true ruby red spawn so I don't make this same mistake and strip too early.
I currently have these fry in a breeding net inside my fry/growout tank. Is there anything I can do at this point to help these little guys get along further? I've just never dealt with fry this small before.
