RUGF, Canister Question

Some one just gave me a 55 gal tank

I have a eheim 2227 (wet dry filter)
I have a mag drive 9.5

both not in use

I was thinking I would rig a RUGF and plumb the outflow of the eheim into the intake of the 9.5 and then force the water under the gravel (to the rugf)

I wil also hook it to my drip system, with a syphon overflow

am i going to mess up the eheim, by pulling water threw it to fast?
I was thinking that i could add a big foam pre-filter to the intake of the eheim

i dont know what it would do to the eheim, but that would prob ruin the mag drive.

That's kind of (I don't know how to say it) not good. You would be force feeding the mag 9. I don't think it would hurt the mag but it defeats the purpose of having there (to pump water). I'd be more worried about sucking too much out of the canister and it's pump running dry. I also don't know the gph or the mag or cannister, but it would be better to use one or the other to p0wer the RUGF - probably the mag
