My plans for a 30 blind cave fish tank and a 75 asian river tank were just ruined on 2 big accounts:

#1 My parents changed their mind about allowing the 75 gallon tank
#2 My overly aggressive cave tetras killed my larger danios I was growing out for the 75

th tetras would wait until the light is out then they'd do hit and runs on the danios sides, scraping them up until they died. then once I removed the body they'd select a new victim to harass within days. i only caught them as they killed my final danio, who was an inch longer then the tetras.

I'm going to a backup plan with the tetras in a 10 and something else in the 30, probably a smaller scale to what I was planning before

Has anyone had super aggressive cave tetras before? and will 5 of them work in a 10 gallon tank or a similar sized tank?

That's interesting never new Blind Cave fish were such predators. That's do bad your parents want let you have the 75. Maybe start doing some extra chores around the house

won't matter, In less then 18 month's I'm off to university and they see it as an expensive waste to set up then take down and store for 5 years, I've been saving for 3-4 months to afford the setup i was planning but I guess they do have a point. I'm pretty sure they won't mind something small like a 10-30 gallon.

I always thought cave tetras were peaceful, especially considering they were smaller then the danios they killed but it kinda makes them even more appealing, an eyeless fish from the deepest underground river + a badass group predator that will attack larger fish. I originally got them cheap to cycle the tank but that was about 2 years ago and now I'm kinda attached to them
