Runaway Heaters

Question for the experts...

I have had 3 heaters go out on me in the past year. First one was a TopFin that wouldn't stop heating the water. Second was a Rena Smart Heater that stopped heating the water. Third (my current heater) is a Hydor Theo 300w that won't stop heating the water.

I unplug them when doing water changes and clean them off when algae builds up on them, but they all keep dying. Just bad luck or am I doing something wrong? I still use the Rena Smart Heater as my XP2 intake (Looks better than blue plastic), but it's unplugged.

When you bought your Hydor, there was a warranty card. If you filled it out and mailed it, they will replace the heater (it's a 2 or 3 yr warranty).

As far as new heaters, I'm stumped like you guys. I currently use: Hydor, Marineland "Neptune" (old) and Ehiem Ebo-Jager. I don't have problems with them for the most part, but wouldn't be suprised if they stopped working.

Keep us informed with your solutions or any new heaters you acquire.
