Running a pool filter?

Working on filtration for me new 240g. It has dual 2" overflows and 4 1" returns. I was originally planning a wetdry that would then feed into a refugium. I was just in Home Depot and noticed their pool filters for $299. Its a sand filter with a 1 HP pump. Would this work? Would I be better off with my first choice?

As long as you can afford the electric bill it will work. A 1 horsepower pump is expensive to run on a daily basis. 1 horsepower = 745 watts.
