Running k1 media fluidized bed in return sump chamber with return pumps.

By the time your filtered water reaches your return chamber it should be nice and clean ready for return to your tank.

Having further biological media in your return chamber would, in time, once the media is mature, periodically release old dead bacteria and bits of crud, which is how this media works, but it would then be returned to your tank!

In time I suspect you'd have issues with "bitty" water in your display tank.

I'm also not sure I'd be entirely happy about something being in the pump section which could hinder its performance. The pump section is for pumps only, and maybe heaters imo.

Issue is my sump only has 2 chambers. Wish it had 3. May build a 3rd if I can’t figure out a place to put the K1. I don’t want it in the largest chamber because that will also be a grow out/refugium section. Sump is 150 gallons main tank is 470. Also not sure why the gap between chambers is so large 4 solid inches.

Decided to use entire first chamber for k1 any recommendations on a quite air Bubbler to move 6 cubic feet of media.
