Hey guys, I've got a 6x2x2 tank heated by 2 Eheim Jager 300W heaters. I've put them both in opposite back corners with both set to 26 degrees Celsius.

Is there a way to 'sync' them so they're kind of 'compliment' eachother. Should I turn them both down to say.. 25 degrees celsius to maintain a steady 27 degrees celsius? Is the issue that they're both powerful heaters and when they turn on it heats up too quick?
It seems my tanks temperature is swinging up and down by 1-2 degrees Celsius. Is this an issue of them being calibrated differently or should I place them next to eachother?

Additional info. I only placed the second Eheim Jager 300W in earlier today and have been monitoring with a digital thermometer and traditional glass thermometer. Was running a single Eheim Jager 300W previous, set at 27 degrees celsius and temp. only ever fluctuated +/- 0.5 degrees celsius. Both heaters are placed next to the filter inlet and outlet for optimum water flow.

Get a temperature controller.

You don't need temperature controller.

This might help you.

Turn one heater off. Set the temp to 27 like you have and monitor the tank for 24hours. If the tank stays at 27 degrees +/- 0.5 degree then its all good. If it goes above or below this point then you need to calibrate the heater by turning the calibration dial (the one with the arrow that points to the numbers on it, not the one you use to adjust the temperature) up or down depending on how much your temperature is fluctuating from it's set temperature. it can be adjusted in 0.5 degree increments. Do this and monitor for 24 hours. Once all good, do the same thing for the other heater. Once both heaters are calibrated, set one heater 0.5 degrees less than the other one. 1 x 300w jagar heater is more than enough to heat 180 gallon in a normal environment. If the room your aqaurium is in subject to cold environment such as winter temp swings, then having 2 heaters will keep temp swing to no more than 0.5 degrees. By having 2, you still may have up to a 0.5 degree swing in temperature as before as one heater is set. But having 2 can be good in the fact that if the one fails, at last you have a backup. 0.5 degree celcius swing in temperature over a short period of time is fine. When the temp fluctuation of more than 3 degrees celcius happens over the same period, is when to start worrying.
