just been tinkering in my sump and noticed that the jubilee clip that was holding the return pipe onto the return pump was starting to rust. I have taken it off and replaced it with a plastic clip but it doesnt seem very tight. im pretty confident that its not going to go anywhere, but any suggestions for a decent plastic clamp for inch internal tubing? also, just wondering, how bad is rust in a freshwater aquarium? thanks for the help :)

well the metals in the rust can be dangerous for your fish. when i made my diy sump i used 3/4 and the pump came with a 3/4 fitting so i just glued the fitting to the pipe. the downside to this is the pvc cement isnt coming a part for nothing so the fitting is stuck in the pipe. one upside is that once the cement is dry there is no need for clamps.

I did think about gluing it. but if the pump fails, or more so if the pipe gets old and brittle I could have a problem. If it shows signs of shifting as it is ill have to rethink. but for the time im trying to be optimistic that it will stay put
