hey everyone i was wondering if it is ok to feed my cichlids celery... i have some leftover sticks of raw celery that i wanted to give them thought if i crushed them a little bit to bite size can my fish eat them without a problem???

tank 1: 40gal long w/ a mating pair of jacks very happy
tank 2: 110 gal 6 foot long w/ 2 tiger oscars,1 jaguar cichlid, 1 pike cichlid cannot identify(possible black line pike or sveni), and a regular bichir:WHOA:

I have heard it is good health to feed them peas before. Guess celery couldn't hurt either.

Personally I doubt any of those fish will eat celery. There's a chance the Oscars might but I don't think any of the other fish will eat it. It can't hurt though. If they don't eat it just remove it from the tank.

You might get a Pleco to eat it, otherwise I doubt you'll have much luck.

Even if they do eat it, celery consists of 95% water content & will supply very little in the way of nutrients.

I give my severums romaine lettuce from time to time, and they love it. I don't think they would take to celery, even if it were nutritious.
