I have two small South american lungfish, about 5" each
I keep them with a few schools of tetras-cardinals and flame
To my surprise they do not pay attention to these fish at all, but are eating extemely well and growing at a descent rate

Does anyone else keepthese lungfish, and if so do you keep them with any other tank mates?

Will they become more aggresive fish eaters with age, kind of like my bottomless pit African lungfish are

I have a 31" SAL and I keep it with bichirs, gars, arowanas, knifefish, large catfishes, snakeheads, datnoids and giant red tail gourami.

It's actually hit or miss as some SAL are aggressive and they have a powerful bite.

i would anticipate the two lungfishes attacking each other as they grow...SALs often don't tolerate each other, even shortly after pairing up for spawning.

i've kept them with most of the same tankmates mentioned above with few problems (sometimes they can nip at bichirs). i currently keep mine with 6 species of gars and they get along just fine. i would monitor their activity, and be prepared to separate them once you start seeing nips--

I'll post a new tread on my lungfish collection very soon just wait.

Just remember that lungfish hates other lungfish. Doesn't matter which species. I also noticed that SAL have the most powerful bite of all lungfish if you compared all them pound per pound. Although not sure about the gilled african lungfish as I never get to keep one myself.

Where did you get your lungfish?

My SAL is with 5 stingrays and the it is more than 3 foot long , but it is not a commun lepidosiren , is white ( leucistic form ) and much more peaceful in my opinion .... my africans lives like pet fish and kill tankmates

My SAL only bites others lungfishes , it atack almost in the same time it see the other lung , and is very agressive , with others tankmates is a model citizen in the aquarium
