I picked up these cats a couple weeks ago and have been feeding them shrimp pellets and meal worms every other day. Any advice on other food to feed them is what i'm hoping for help with, they are, blue mystus are 4-6 in and the tiger shovelnose is 6-7 in? Any other advice would be helpful also. They are in a 125 gal tank med planted with dw and rock, co2 injected, ei dosing, 2x 96 watt cf on for 3 hr and 4x 39 watt t5 ho on for 8 hr, rena xp4, 2 ac 70 powerheads. The shovelnose I've heard gets 3 ft do they accualy get this big in tanks?

Yes they do get that large, I have had mine for about 9 months now and he grew alot at first. He was only 3" when i first brought him home. He is almost a foot now but the growth has slowed down. I feed mine everything. I give him fd krill, pellets, blood worms, earthworms, and the occasional feeder. A 125 is a good size unfortunalty in a few years he will out grow the tank if you want to keep any tank mates with him. Have any pics of the tsn? Set up sounds nice. Fequent large water changes and feeding a couple times a day he will put some size on in no time

I caught my tsn out this morning and got a pic. I also noticed I am a few fish short in my tank couple of black neons and black phantoms I don't think it was the tsn that eat them but the blue mystus thats an 1-2 in smaller every time I see this fish its belly is full. If I can get a pic of one of the blues I will post it also , never come out till the light goes out. I have night crawlers, shrimp, shrimp pellets, mealworms for them now, sorry didn't notice the sticky for red tails and tsn but I have read the first 20 pages.

Sweet planted tank man....but why is the water soo cloudy ?

I would'nt put a shovel nose in there...they will mess up the tank...
They get bigger than 3ft.. more like 4-5ft...

The water is alittle cloudy cause I redid the substrate a couple weeks ago and seems to be a bit of green water algea but doing 25%daily wc and running uv and some ammonia chips. Lfs guy didn't think he would get that bigg thought he would stunt at like 2 ft. I do alot of cat fishing in the summer here ( release all my fish) and love them well have to see if this is his last home, I have alittle time from what I read.

You have some time but they can get plenty big if fed/housed/treated right.

There was someone on here who posted photos of MASSIVE TSN's in a giant personal home aquarium. They were somewhere around 4 feet if I recall.

You will want to vary the diet a lot more than that too.

Market Shrimp/Fish, Worms, and Carnivore Pellets should be in there too.

And yes, once it gets bigger it will begin to destroy that tank in terms of cosmetics.

what the **** is a blue mystus? Sorry. Everytime i see this thread that question pops into my head. I can only think of one bagrid that is blue-ish and if it is that cat then you'll be finding him a new home someday too....

oh ok. i have one of those as a matter of fact. Funny little guy he is.

Wont the TSN eventually eat the Blue Mystus-according to that site that other cat only gets 8 inches and TSN get large and put whatever they can in their mouths.
