What the heck?!?! Doggone jaguars ate their fry again as soon as they become free swimmers they eat them this is the second time.... So I guess next time ill pull the eggs after a couple days. But I don't get it no traffic,no other fish in the tank I don't know why they keep doing it...

Well sometimes you get a good pair and sometimes you get a bad pair this goes with all cichlids I believe. When I bred convicts one of the pairs I had to sell because they had always eaten their fry sometimes you just have to start from scratch with a new pair it happens.cichlids usually make really good parents caring for them to the extreme however when the parents are good they are REALLY good when the parents are bad they are REALLY if it's their first few times spawning give it a couple more times and they may stop but if they have been a pair for a while then they will most likely never quit eating their offspring. I find it really hard to take care of fry from day one without the parents so When I breed cichlids and this continuously happens (parents eat fry) I usually opt for a new pair.

Yea it's only their second time. They are still young they are about 8 months old the male is about 10" and the female is around 8"1/2. So I know they are young so ill just give it a couple more try's and see what happens... Hey Thanks A Lot :-)

Don't feel alone....my jags got issues too...they get too aggressive with each other after spawning to keep together without a divider....then after the fry hatch over the course of about a week the numbers steadily diminish..out of a few hundred I got 8 left that I removed and are growing them in a 75.....if you really want to save some you will probably have to be watchful and take them out next time while you can....or just give them some more tries and see.....

Mine haven't got aggressive with each other yet, they even spawned with 2 JD in there...yes I took the jacks out once they had eggs... But I'm going to just take the eggs out next time.... Thanks

And did I just take advice from a kid >That Fish Guy<...lol just busting your chops... Your a cool kid with a great quest for knowledge I see, you'll be one of the sought after guys on here soon enough keep it up kid...
