So this is gonna be a little long! I have been downsizing my number of tanks (getting out of severum/angel fish breeding) and my final goal is 6 specialized tanks and one 350g tank with 1x BGK; 1x Watermelon Pleco; 1x Fire Eel. I have final stocking and full scale drawings of the aquascapes on all the tanks. However, I now have a buyer taking all of severums and angelfish and their tanks, far earlier than planned. The 350 was originally going to have a bunch of severums, then changed to angels, but now I realized a small issue... 1. Seeing as I'm selling all of the angels and severum early, I won't have access to my free stocking. 2. Thanks to a series of Facebook rants about bad fish keeping, I have been finding myself the new local fish rescue... at present the rescue fish I have are 2 peacock eels (they have a full tank designed for them, so they're covered); 2 angelfish, one with stunted fins; 1 Electric Blue Jack Dempsey; and 1 mystery satanoperca (not sure what kind yet because the pics I got were grainy and I haven't seen it in person yet, but I believe it's a daemon, yet he claims it was sold as a Lilith). And my best buddy, Satan The Reformed Homocidal Maniac Severum. I won't rehome the rescued, I made promises. All of these fish except the satanoperca (and the eels) are currently living together in total peace. My question is (finally), could I add any other top/mid dwellers with Minimal risk? I already know that this group gets along, but I was hoping to add some more SA/CA cichlids to just make it a variety hour! Any suggestions on some other SA/CA species that may work in this tank? (I have grow out tanks too FYI) also: Filtration = 2x FX6; 2x weekly 30% WC; plants (crypts, frogbit, Val, mosses); bubble wall.

Also, could the satanoperca possibly fit in with that bunch? It's only about 4" long at present, I'm aware they can get up to 14" or so.
Answered my own question with some research, they're black water fish with waaay different water conditions... since I have no black water tanks at present, I guess he's not staying long, but hopefully going in a 55g tank for a month or so will still be better than his current 10g my idiot "friend" put him in...

Maybe if I say I'm putting all of that in a 20g tank, I don't believe in water changes, and I'm topping it off with a 4' arrowana, people will respond in seconds haha

Hello, hardto read your original post. The enter button is your friend, block of text is intimidating. I did read it however.
In a 350 gallon tank with an angelfish, ebjd, severum, and satanoperca, you could keep lots of south american cichlids. I would avoid central American species, they are generally more aggressive to other cichlids than the SA are. Your fish are SA other than the ebjd, and they are mild by ca standards.
Some ideas would be chocolate cichlids, hoplarchus psittacus, festivums (if you could find large ones), guianacara, acaras, plenty more. Most mid sized SA cichlids would do fine with that kind of community.

Thanks for the reply, I use a stylus to type (stroke had ruined my text/typing skills), so sorry about the block text!
I was thinking of taking up a fellow local aquarist on rehoming his chocolate cichlid at one point, maybe I'll see if he's still willing to part ways with it when this tank is ready!
Any experience on Uaru? I may also have a local source on a pair of those and this tank is already looking to be a rescue tank!
(I tried to make it better to read, hope it helps)

Much better
I have only kept juvenile Uaru for a short time personally, but from what I have heard they would fit in well with the type of fish you are stocking. I believe they do better in groups, and you have the tank space, so I would recommend you get a small group if you get them.
I like the idea of a rescue tank, I see great looking donor fish at my LFS all the time and feel bad for them. If I have room I try to take them in when I can as well.

Yea it makes me very upset when my LFS is flooded with giant plecos, usually a few months after Christmas... I wish I could have a pond for all of them...
