I was wondering if anyone knows of a documentary that shows Sa/Ca Cichlids like Umbee,Peacock bass, Festae,Dovii, Chancho,Trimac , ect, ect...in the wild, I think it would be awesome to see some of these monsters in their natural habitat :headbang2

Nicaragua Cichlids - Willem Heijns (in French but otherwise good)

This only focuses on cichlids found in the lakes of Nicaragua, but shows them behaving in their natural habitat. For instance it has a dovii pair guarding fry, then another female cichlid comes to babysit. Interesting, only I cant understand French very much so I'm not learning anything new.

If anyone has the translation to this put it forward.

this is #1 out of 8, most of them have some pretty good shots of wild SA cichlids

Yeah when I watch those documentaries on Nat. Geo, Animal Planet, and Discovery, I always want them to show more about the cichlids. Usually its a 30sec. snippet here and there. I would definitely like to see a documentary dedicated to CA/SA cichlids.

there were a few videos, in german, posted not too long ago with SA cichlids; pikes, discus, festivus, apistos, p-bass and a few eartheaters. it may have been in the crenicichla forum

I once stumbled on one that showed wild oscars in the amazon, and how the local aboriginals ate them, as well as the crocodiles relied on them as a food source...great documentary...I wish I knew the name.
