SA/CA cichlid lighting

Do SA and CA cichlids tend to like dimmer or more brighter lit tanks?

I never have bright lights on any of my tanks, with my sa,ca cichlids they are way more active with dimmer lights.I find that it looks much more natural this way .

same for my african cichlids. i took the 72" light off my 150 and put a 36" light and my 29 uses a light off the 10 g

my 125 only has a single 48" t8 bulb over it, mostly to keep the algae down but it also looks cool when its kinda dim like that

i have 2 36inch t8s on a 3ft tank 35g, but the are alot of plant blocking it
