Dark substrate will bring the colors more or maybe a better diet
Very nice fish though, top quality.

i thought diet may be it but for the past month ive been feeding hikari cichlid gold, cyclopeeze, bloodworms, shrimp pellets and freeze dried krill. plenty of nutrition and variety. the firemouth was a hand me down, so his diet could have been poor before. everyone elses colors seems to be popping a little more, esp the cubans (although not in that pic).
