Looking for a nice looking SA cat that will get in the 14"-24" range. My tank is a 220g 72"X24"X30". Tankmates are all amazon fish, psittacus, severums, flagtail, black aro, Geo altifrons.

What would be a good catfish that fits my theme and gets big but not huge. The only thing I can think of is a marlbed sailfin but there have to be a lot more. I just want something showy and that will be decent size but will never outgrow my tank or devour it's tankmates.

The first thing that come to mind for me is Sorubim Lima, Lima Shovelnose. Comes from Amazon River basin, gets about 16", not hard to find. I see them around here at 6"-8" for about $16 to $20.

A little smaller is Pimelodus Blochii, Four-lined Pimelodus. Same region, a bit smaller topping out around 10"-12" and easy to get for about $10 around here. I have two of these with mixed cichlids and they have done very well. They seem to like each others company and are very active at feeding time.

I am certain there are MFK users that can offer more suggestions I can.

Tigrinus would work, Juruense can as well, but I would also go with above poster and say lima.
