I have my 55gallon set up for over a year now, 2 green terrors, 2 jackdempseys, 3 parrots, plecos ect, and i know that my tank is too small for them to grow to the size they could be, but they eat well and swim around a lot and appear to be happy. I really havent had too many problems.

question: if i move in a couple of months and set up a larger tank in a new location, could their growth rate increase? Or are these fish always going to be small becuase i've had them in the 55 for so long

dont know in the long term but i took my fish out of a smaller tank and moved them to a larger one and their growth did increase pretty rapid, they are not all fully grown yet but does not seem to have been a problem, mine were in the smaller tank for approx 6 months. what size are you going for?

yes they will grow more if you take them out and place them in a larger home...usually 1"/month is normal and maitain on your weekly water changes and also feed the a good diet

It is highly unliikely they will attain normal growth rates or normal max size... you have most likely done permanent harm to the fish...

But moving them to a larger tank will give them the chance to grow more...

WELL

i dont know who to believe here...
There's always a plethora of opinions, guess ill just have to wait and see

Bull****, the fish will grow as large as normal gt's and JD's. Just put them in a larger tank and they will grow faster.

ya some people over exagerate. Yes you probably won't grow the biggest Green Terror or Jack Dempsey on MFK because of the small tank, although if you upgrade they will get much bigger and will get pretty close to max size. Your fish will not get bigger because of the bigger tank, they will get bigger because they will be healthier and will be happier and less stressed with the more room. Go for the upgrade man you won't regret it
